Do you show
your Arabians? Join our new HIGH POINT PROGRAM!
AHA of Indiana is
initiating a high point program to recognize members who
get out and show their Arabian and Arabian crosses at
events, enabling the public to see what Arabians can do
and encourage friendly competition within our club.
It is only $10 to join, and is split up into divisions
for halter, english, western, junior exhibitor, and
adult amateur exhibitor.
Read here
or go to the
High Point Program page
for more information! High point entry form (only)

Would you be
interested in being the AHA of Indiana AHA Convention
delegate? The 2012 AHA National Convention
location is not yet determined, but we are busy picking
the right person to represent our Arabian horse club.
If you are interested in this position, please email our
Vice-President as soon as possible!
Retirement of
Allen Kirkendall of Kirkendall Arabians
Allen Kirkendall
has announced his retirement from the breed, and has
sold all remaining breeding stock to Freeland Farms of
Fort Wayne, Indiana. He had bred over 70 Arabians
in his time as a breeder with many attaining US Top Tens
and Scottsdale Top Tens in halter and performance.
We thank Allen for his support, and wish him a wonderful
and long retirement!

Promote the
breed with Girl Scouts!:
There is no better
way to promote the Arabian horse and horse ownership in
general than through their introduction to children.
Here is a picture of Brownie Troop 694 meeting the
Arabian horse at the McCormack's place on 10/03/2011.
This was many kids' first introduction to a horse of any
kind. They learned about the care of equines, and
earned their equestrian badge. This night the
breed was represented by 13 year old Alada Remembrance (Alada
Baskin x Mustiskka by *Muscat). She is a retired
dressage and sport horse in-hand champion, and now a
broodmare and child teacher!
Cruisin For
Horse Power Car Show 2011:
The club had a
wonderful first year as the host of the 2nd Annual Cruisin' For Horse
Power Car Show in Pendleton, IN on Saturday, September
3rd, 2011. We had 86 entries with a top 30 being
awarded. Pictured right was the grand champion,
Rick Hiday. A portion of proceeds will be donated
to member owned Ride with Faith, a horsemanship program
for troubled youth (on-site volunteers
pictured below!). Many thanks to the show
volunteers that made it all possible, and special thanks
to our super show manager, Arlene Gross!!!
2011 Farm
Progress Show with Tommy Garland:
Member-owned
Asahara Heat was selected to be the Tommy Garland clinic
horse for
the 2011 Farm Progress Show! Held August 29-Sept 1
in Decatur, IL, this show draws as many as 100,000
people per day. This was a huge opportunity to
positively promote the Arabian horse. "Sara"
demonstrated the great mind of the Arabian horse by
responding quickly to
Tommy's expert training and was under saddle at the end
of the very first session
hour.
We were very proud of her! Members Gretchen
McCormack and Jean Bedee were
on-hand to answer questions about our breed. A big
thanks goes out to Dawn
and Tommy Garland for selecting our horse, and making us
part of something great!
